After another hiatus.. an update

Where did the last three years just go? It is scary to think bout the torrential waters that flowed under that bridge.. 2 redundancies, 4 startups, 3 social networks deleted and one bout of COVID,

On the upside, I’ve run hundreds thousands of miles, and still not had one drink in a decade. Go me!

But seriously, what a ride that has been. And I am sure it has been the same for you too. (But maybe not ‘U2’ who seem to have forgotten what the inside of a studio looks like. Come on guys!)

So what’s next for me in terms of creative, personal and professional next steps? Well, lets see…

After 32 years in Hospitality, I have recently made a big career reset and gone into the Civil Service. And I’m absolutely loving it! (More on that later.)

‘the only constant is change’

And as you are reading this article, then it looks like I have finally revisited this personal website of mine to give it some love. Kitchen Sync is still important to me, but needs a little re-think just now.

I’d love to reboot my Podcast, but one step at a time. Don’t run before you can walk, as they say.

But I have been focused on my personal wellbeing - and right now I feel I am in the best shape in my life. So my intention is to keep running, do more strength training and generally worry less about those big hairy goals I was always chasing to my detriment.

My focus now is on the process rather than the outcome… if I can get that right, then those goals - the ones that matter anyway! - will come.

My wife Arati continues to be my rock and I am trying to live up to her amazing love for me everyday.

My parents are in great health and great spirits as they enjoy their overdue and well-deserved retirement together. Our wider fimaily in Nepal continue to shower is with love and best wishes and we miss them madly every day - Nepal was and always will be our spiritual home and we can’t wait to go back when the right moment comes.

And our daughter Jade has now ensconced herself away in a dorm room in Manchester Met University as of last month. . I remember walking around Bicester Village on a cold wintry Wednesday evening in 2016 where she was handing in her CV to land that all-important first job. She got one within days and just recently finished up at Gucci after four amazing years to study for a degree in Fashion Business. Naturally we are so, so proud of the talented, resilient and super glamorous young woman she has turned out to be.

As for this blog.. I do intend to give it some love over the next few weeks. Even if nobody reads it. (OK, you are reading it - and for that I am truly grateful!)

Also check out my new page called LinkedOut - it is a newsletter of links that I find interesting and worth sharing. So rather than sharing them on a social channel where the get lost in the firehose, I am sharing them to my own page where I can find them and refer back to them when I need them.

As for what gets shared, heres my take on it: when I was a chef, I cooked food I liked to eat - and it turned out that most custmers came to my restarants because they liked that food too! So I’m applying the same logic to the links I share - If I like them, then theress a good chance you’ll like them too.

Let me know what you think. The first few were really to set up the format and workflow.. so bear with!

And with that, I am going to sign off and get this published before I change my mind. Drop in a comment if you have any thoughts - even to tell me not to bother. I will be the first to agree with you. But like it says on th ecover page of this website: ‘the only constant is change’.. so here’s to changing it up a little in terms of sharing my most recent personal perspective and worldview.

Thanks for dropping by - stay safe and keep strong.
